Matcha Magic, Chashaku Bamboo Matcha Spoon

Chashaku is a bamboo spoon that is used to apply matcha. Matcha tea is prepared differently than other types of tea, and the use of a chashaku teaspoon is an essential element of the Japanese tea brewing ritual and at the same time brings us closer to the traditional ceremony.

The curved part of the spoon is used to take a small amount of tea and place it in the cup. Next, matcha is whipped with a little water using chasen to obtain a uniform consistency and a delicate foam on the surface. The amount of matcha sprinkled depends on individual preferences. 

Traditionally, when preparing low-intensity tea, "dry" you should sprinkle one teaspoon of chashaku and about 75-100 ml of hot water. This proportion is perfect for creating the perfect frothy texture on the matcha surface. Koicha, or thick tea, is prepared using a much larger portion of matcha. Mix 4-6 teaspoons of chashaku in 150 ml of water. The resulting matcha is much thicker and sweeter.
